ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that no US base will be set up in Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He termed the news of US bases in Pakistan as baseless. Addressing the Senate, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and the peace process was playing an important role in moving forward.
He said he did not want to interfere in Afghanistan's internal affairs and wanted peace. He said a solution to the Palestinian problem was essential for lasting peace in the Middle East. The responsibility for peace and security rests with the Security Council. But unfortunately the Security Council failed to reach a conclusion.
He said a joint strategy was adopted on the situation in Gaza, veto power was used to block consensus on one idea and the General Assembly platform was forced to be used.
On the other hand, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry had told reporters on Monday that there was no US military or airport in Pakistan and no such proposal was under consideration. Any speculation in this regard was baseless and irresponsible. Are and should be avoided. The Taliban said in a statement: We urge neighboring countries not to allow anyone to do so. If such a step is taken again, it will be a huge and historic mistake."
The statement added that they would not remain silent despite such heinous and provocative actions. Several of Afghanistan's neighbors used limited US air bases in the early 2000s after the fall of the Taliban regime. Such aid has largely disappeared, but some countries still allow their airspace to be used for military flights.
On Tuesday, the Pakistani government once again rejected media reports, claiming that Pakistan had signed a new agreement with the United States. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told the Senate that the news was baseless and speculative. I want to make it clear in the House that Pakistan, led by Imran Khan. will never allow any US base on its soil,he said
