Russian President Vladimir Putin called Prime Minister Imran Khan and discussed the situation in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that peace and stability in Afghanistan is important for the security and sovereignty of the region and immediate humanitarian assistance is needed for Afghanistan. The international community should not leave Afghanistan alone in the current situation.
The Prime Minister further said that the Afghan brothers should not be left helpless in this hour of need, stressing the need to maintain bilateral relations in view of the changing situation in Afghanistan. Afghanistan needs help to avoid any human tragedy.
Stressing on the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan for regional security and prosperity, the Prime Minister said that close coordination and consultation between Pakistan and Russia was of utmost importance in the situation in Afghanistan.
Bilateral relations between the two countries were also discussed during the telephone conversation, while the promotion of Pak-Russia relations and the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization were also discussed.
The Prime Minister called for further cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The Prime Minister invited Russian President Putin to visit Pakistan while President Putin also invited Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit Russia.
